Recent design work, Nov. 2011
This is in theory something of a work blog, but it’s been a while since I’ve posted any new professional, commercial, paying work. To some extent, a lot of the work lately has been fairly utilitarian, non-splashy stuff, and then at the same time I’ve had a lot of things going on, in and outside of my working life, both. (Both of these trends will probably continue for the next six weeks or so, which have the potential for turning into something resembling a death march, but much more time for flights of creative fancy should open up after that.)
I do have some things, though, that I think are interesting and which I simply haven’t gotten around to posting. I will fix that herewith.

This was a LOT of copy for one front cover. I think I handled it pretty neatly, if I do say so myself.

Had a couple of health and beauty covers arrive, a while back, marking a bit of a new subject for me which is always nice

But, of course, there's always good old veterinary science and genetics.
This last design, I think, sprang in part from an idea I’ve had for a while now, of using the visual pattern of a crossword puzzle as the basis for a cover. I know I’ve tried this a few times, at any rate, and on this one it finally emerged as the winner.
So that’s one thing checked off my life goals list. 🙂
