Promethean inspiration
So I guess that this is what a largely allergy-mild spring is like: cold, and rainy. Week after week. Ehh. Y’know what, it may be worth it.
Meanwhile, another finished front cover for my new friends “back east.”
I’m happy with this one, particularly given all these charts which I was to incorporate somehow. I wasn’t really crazy about any of them (except maybe that lite-brite pattern), let alone the whole bunch, and I was to somehow incorporate DNA as well…
But I’m very pleased with the result. I particularly like the hint of kabalah’s tree of life. In combination with the illustration of DNA, I think Alan Moore would find the overall effect quite congenial.

You know what really brings it together for me, at least? Bessie. I liked that particular image (and, to a lesser extent, the double helix background) that I didn’t even realize that it was the only photo until you mentioned how many charts you used.
It probably also helps that the charts are individually pretty different, and don’t all look quite so chart-ish. But three cheers for Bessie there!
Moo!
Very thoughtful point. Perhaps having that one photo of a real, familiar, even placid subject, acts as an anchor amidst all the abstract madness of the rest of the cover. Cow power.
